They walk the length of the centre panel, spotted and pale green, between clusters of palm trees and lotus flowers in deep pink. Most people don't notice them at first. They see the florals, set the table, and then somewhere between the second cup of tea and the last plate being cleared, someone points and says — wait, is that a leopard?
Animal motifs have a long history in Rajasthani block printing. Elephants, birds and big cats were carved into teak blocks for royal tents and floor spreads long before they found their way onto table linen. The Bougainvillea keeps that lineage lightly. The leopards aren't hunting anything — they're just walking through the palms.
At each end the print changes entirely: a band of pink florals on a vine, then a run of brown chevron. Three separate carved blocks on one length of cloth, each pass registered against the last, all pressed by hand.
Pure mulmul cotton, so it lies flat rather than bunching, and softens with every wash.
